The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) is a statutory body set up to combat and reduce the incidence of major crime and corruption in the public sector in Queensland. Its functions and powers are set out in the Crime and Corruption Act 2001.

There are three positions available. The positions range from long term 5 year contracts to short term 6 month contracts with the possibility of extension. 

The ideal applicant will demonstrate capability in the following requirements:

  • Practising experience that demonstrates:
    • your knowledge of areas of law relevant to the CCC's work, including criminal law, administrative law, civil litigation, employment law and local government
    • advocacy skills that reflect an ability to effectively examine witnesses in the context of CCC investigative hearings, and to make applications for warrants and other authorities; and/or
    • the ability to conduct civil, criminal or quasi-criminal litigation in Queensland and Australian courts and Tribunals, including QCAT. 
  • Thorough knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire thorough knowledge, of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Criminal Code (Qld)the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth) and other relevant legislation.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare written advice, briefs of evidence, court documents and complex reports and correspondence within tight deadlines.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams, and the development of positive team culture.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and sustain positive and effective relationships with other team members, establishing priorities, developing sound solutions and participating in the development of improvements to work practices.

 Qualifications/ Professional Registrations/ Other Requirements:

  • Certified copies of all qualifications must be produced at time of interview
  • You must be admitted, or eligible for immediate admission, as a legal practitioner in Queensland, preferably with at least 5 years post-admission experience
  • Entry on the Register of Practitioners kept in the High Court of Australia is necessary to conduct litigation on behalf of the CCC in federal courts
