In the role of Principal Advisor to the General Manager (GM), Portfolio Investment and Programming Branch you will:

• Support the GM by providing strategic and informed advice on a range of issues impacting the delivery of key priorities for the Portfolio Investment and Programming Branch. 

• Manage the operation of the GM'soffice, ensuring the efficient flow of issues and correspondence, establishing appropriate priorities and successful delivery of all outcomes.

• On behalf of the GM, liaise and consult with central agencies, state government departments, industry groups to ensure organisational issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.

Accountabilities include:

• Provide leadership in assisting the GM in the direction and management of the Portfolio Investment and Programming Branch and take immediate action on matters that do not require the GM's close involvement.

• Act as a link and support the GM by developing responses in key areas such as Ministerial and Director-General correspondence and briefing material.

• Represent the GM including exercising discretion with sensitive issues and make judgements and decisions on his/her behalf.

• Monitor Government decisions and initiate appropriate action as necessary on matters relevant to Portfolio Investment and Programming Branch.

• Research, analyse, make recommendations, prepare responses/presentations on issues and brief the GM or their representative in preparation for attendance at internal and external meetings, conferences and workshops.

• Review branch responses and briefing notes to executive correspondence to ensure consistency with departmental policy and standards where the GM is the endorsing officer.

• Monitor key deliverables and priorities as directed by the GM in relation to activities of the Branch and manage any risks that may impact on delivery of outcomes.

• Build and maintain strategic and productive relationships with the Director-General, Deputy Director-General and the Ministers' Offices, TMR executive management and their support staff.

This role reports to the General Manager, Portfolio Investment and Programming.
