The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) is a statutory body set up to combat and reduce the incidence of major crime and corruption in the public sector in Queensland. Its functions and powers are set out in the Crime and Corruption Act 2001. Our new Principal Business Analyst will lead and manage business analysis activities that help us to achieve our purpose and develop our organisational capabilities.

The Strategy, Innovation & Insights Division is seeking a team member committed to continuous improvement and supporting business leaders in the delivery of transformational programs and projects.

The ideal candidate is inquisitive, willing to learn and has great attention to detail. Experience in the delivery of business analysis within both waterfall and agile project environments is highly desirable.

Further, the ideal candidate will demonstrate capability in the following requirements:

  • Providing strategic and operational advice regarding transformational program/project direction for business analysis activities, including requirements elicitation, business process modelling, data modelling, and use case development.
  • Assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of existing business operations and workflows to develop improved structures, processes and systems.
  • Leading the development of business and software requirements and specifications, ensuring traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Documenting and analysing ‘As-Is' and ‘To-Be' business process models using industry standard methodology.
  • Assisting with the planning and co-ordination of ICT Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and providing support to business stakeholders to achieve successful UAT outcomes.
  • Developing handover and ongoing support models.
  • Providing a support and mentoring role for other business analysts within the program/project(s).
  • Initiating, influencing and maintaining relationships with and between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitating effective communications and fostering relationships across program/project(s)
  • Defining processes for deploying and integrating new capabilities into the business in a way that is sensitive to, and fully compatible with, business operations, including coordination of relationships with and between stakeholders.


Key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with business stakeholders to understand their business / process goals and objectives, and fully clarify their needs. 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing business analysis activities on large scale, complex business change programs/projects, including requirements elicitation, business process modelling, data modelling and use case development.
  • Knowledge in, and an ability to provide sound advice and recommendations on, the application of business analysis techniques, methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in applying, waterfall and agile project methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2 Agile).
  • Advanced communications skills (written and oral) including negotiation, consultation and facilitation.
  • At least five (5) years' experience in Business Analysis, ideally with public sector experience.


Qualifications/ Professional Registrations/ Other Requirements:

  • Possession of qualifications in commerce, law, criminology, business management, information technology, project management or a related field is highly desirable.  
  • Qualifications acquired from an overseas educational institution will only be accepted where the qualification has been recognised to an equivalent level in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
  • Certified copies of all qualifications must be produced at time of interview.
