 The Manager, Risk and Compliance is responsible for:

  • Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of frameworks, systems, policies and practices encompassing governance, risk and compliance.
  • Developing and monitoring performance frameworks to ensure effective service delivery and compliance, and contributing to the ongoing development of performance and compliance measures and monitoring techniques.

  • Sourcing and analysing information to inform and monitor compliance and performance, and collating and presenting data and information in a manner that can be used to inform business decisions and optimise organisational performance.

  • Coordinating and producing a range of high-level corporate reports for external stakeholders, including the annual report, Estimates Hearing briefs, Service Delivery Statement, and reports to the Minister and the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee.

  • Contributing to a healthy risk and compliance culture and a culture of continuous improvement, by providing proactive advice, training and guidance.

  • Liaising with business areas to ensure effective operation of the governance, risk and compliance system.  

  • Managing the activities of the Corporate Governance team, including the performance of the Right to Information and Police Service Review functions.

Key accountabilities of the role

  • Prior experience leading a GRC related role in a government, corporate or consultancy environment, and comprehensive knowledge of legislation, standards and policy that support effective governance within the public sector.

  • Strong conceptual and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, meaningful and actionable business information that supports sound business decision making.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams to achieve high-quality outcomes on time, including sound project management and organisational skills.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including adaptability and resilience, and the ability to build positive relationships on all levels, and lead and negotiate effectively with executive level stakeholders and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to present data and information in a manner that supports decision making, and produce reports for multiple audiences and purposes.
