The Digital Services & IT (DS&IT) Group, is part of the Infrastructure Technology and Asset Services Command, and is responsible for establishing, leading and managing the technology and digital functions within QCS. The Command works with business areas to ensure ICT investment aligns and supports the agency’s strategic direction, exploring emerging technologies whilst leveraging and managing existing ICT assets.

The purpose of this role is to lead the Information Management function for Queensland Corrective Services, including records management and information security. A key focus is to deliver an uplift in agency maturity and to provide strategic and operational direction that ensures information assets are appropriately managed and secure.

The role will be responsible for leading the Information Management team and for the development, implementation and maintenance of the strategic and operational direction to ensure information assets are appropriately managed and secure. In this role you will:

-provide expert strategic advice regarding all aspects of information management and develop a range of associated strategies, plans, standards and processes  

-collaboratively identify objectives and develop strategies that help establish the information management and information security direction for QCS, including delivery and support of the QCS Information Security Management System, and reporting and other tools to facilitate the achievement of agreed objectives  

-develop and maintain appropriate and compliant information management governance, protocols and reporting, particularly in relation to the Public Records Act 2002 and other legislative obligations, and QCS relevant retention and disposal schedules  

-champion the information lifecycle and establish polices and protocols that align business-valued “information” from conception through to disposal, inclusive of data protection, archiving and storage  

-lead, coordinate, monitor and schedule the work of the Information Management team in the delivery of best practice and innovative information management  

-lead the continual improvement of best-practice client support which enhances the attitudes and behaviour of staff to value a culture where information is treated as a valuable asset  

-manage the QCS response to the information requests received under the National Redress Scheme  

-establish and maintain meaningful and timely reporting processes on information management services as needed  

-participate in projects and initiatives to improve information management and record keeping functions

-analyse and interpret the effectiveness of the information management and information security posture of QCS and identify and drive improvement opportunities.
