Two Positions Available  

Key duties and responsibilities

The Senior Financial Investigator is responsible for: 

  • Leading Financial Investigators and Support Officers.
  • Independently conducting complex financial investigations and providing high level financial investigative advice and input to multi-disciplinary team investigations.
  • Managing and conducting complex crime, corruption or proceeds of crime investigations.
  • Preparing and presenting complex financial analyses as an expert witness for use in criminal litigation matters or confiscation proceedings.
  • Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders in relation to financial investigations.
  • Ongoing professional development and mentoring of Financial Investigators and Support Officers.

Key accountabilities of the role

  • Demonstrated ability to support a positive team culture by effectively leading and motivating others to deliver organisational objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively undertaking complex financial investigations and providing financial investigative advice in a law enforcement environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in researching and analysing complex, financial and factual issues to make high quality decisions and judgements and to meet deadlines in a high-pressure work environment.
  • High level oral and written communication skills including the demonstrated ability to present complex financial and other information in a clear and concise way for use in criminal and/or proceeds of crime proceedings.
  • Supports a positive team culture, strives for quality outcomes, ensures compliance with regulatory frameworks and manages risk that may impede success.


Qualifications/professional registration/other requirements

  • Must possess a degree in Commerce, Business or Accounting from a recognised tertiary institution.  Qualifications acquired from an overseas educational institution will only be accepted where the qualification has been recognised to an equivalent level in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
  • Must be a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or CPA Australia.
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations highly regarded.
