Principal Adviser, High Risk Offender Management Unit
High Risk Offender Management Unit; Community Corrections; Community Corrections and Specialist Operations; Brisbane
High Risk Offender Management Unit (HROMU) team based in the Brisbane and Townsville regions is responsible for the supervision of offenders subject to a supervision order pursuant to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (DPSOA) residing throughout Queensland and the electronic monitoring of offenders on parole.
The purpose of this role is to provide advice and assistance on key issues relating to the management of high risk offenders subject to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003. This role has significant responsibility within Queensland Corrective Services, High Risk Offender Management Unit, in the mitigation of risk and monitoring of operational practice that ensures the management of high risk offenders is done in accordance with legislation and associated procedures

In this role you will:
-Contribute to the development, promotion and implementation of HRMOU's strategic goals and the delivery of the annual operational plan.
-Provide high level advice and operational support to senior management and relevant probation and parole officers on the management of high risk offenders, case management and/or other intervention activities.
-Provide advice or participate in District Office team meetings and/or case conferences pertaining to management of high risk offenders as required
-Attend court and provide agency input to matters pertaining to the management of high risk sexual and violent offenders.
-Assist managers with the identification of risk to the agency and the community by ensuring compliance with accountability standards and supporting the implementation of the risk management framework and processes.
-Establish administrative procedures for the processing of information received into and generated from HROMU.
-Manage preparation of reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, publications and other correspondence for HROMU.
-Conduct desk top reviews and quality assurance of the offender management practices for those on detention orders.
-Develop and deliver training where required, enhancing the capacity of managers and staff in the management of high risk offenders.
-Attend to public enquiries referred to the HROMU and where possible deal with and resolve these enquiries.
-Manage the security and confidentiality of records and information in accordance with Information Privacy Standards.
-Assist with the development and implementation of innovative and practical strategies, which support best practice in integrated offender management.
-Monitor and audit offender management practices and records to ensure quality, continuity and consistency and assess compliance of operational sites with quality assurance indicators and internal standards.
-Appraise staff performance and provide feedback on a regular basis in accordance with the Agency's performance management process and procedures.
