In the role of Project Engineer, under Registered Professional Engineer of Qld (RPEQ) supervision, you will provide engineering input to design, construction and maintenance activities within the business unit. You will supervise construction and/or maintenance activities within the business unit to ensure a high standard of quality, economy and safety are achieved. You will provide technical advice to subordinate staff in your area of responsibility to ensure that technical standards and specifications are achieved, and the projects are completed within budget and program constraints.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Assist with project managing construction and maintenance projects within the business unit, including budgeting, programming, monitoring expenditure, controlling and reviewing priorities.
• Assist with the preparation of estimates and tenders for commercial contracts and perform the role of estimator for bids/offers undertaken by the Works Centre.
• Assist with procurement of road making materials and project services.
• Assist in managing project team resources to ensure delivery of construction and maintenance projects within budget and time constraints.
• Present technical training sessions on standard specifications for relevant project staff.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Civil Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Valid Queensland ‘C' class driver's licence or equivalent.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• A reasonable amount of travel consistent with industry standards will be required throughout the State.

To perform the role effectively you will demonstrate proactive and responsive approaches to development and learning. You will employ high level communication and project management skills as well as sound negotiation and organisational skills.
