We are looking for a Research Officer to join our team to undertake and deliver research support services using archival records, finding aids and Queensland State Archives (QSA) archival management system.

This front-facing role will work across QSA and with external customers, including the public and government agencies, contributing to QSA's First Nations First Program and supporting the Queensland Government's Truth-telling and Healing Inquiry.

You will work collaboratively as part of a team supported by senior research and archivist staff.

As a Research Officer you will:
• provide research support services to the public and government agencies via telephone, email and onsite in the Reading Room in a way that reflects cultural awareness and sensitivity
• undertake research using QSA's archival management system, including the identification of First Nations records,
• collate research reports for internal and external audiences
• liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including First Nations people and government agencies regarding records requests and research enquiries
• work closely with archivists and other QSA staff to understand the collection and support continuous improvement for access activities across QSA
• contribute to publications and resources to support the discovery of, and access to, First Nations records
• maintain detailed and accurate documentation and reporting of research activities.

This position is designated as identified. Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be someone who identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and either:
• is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
• is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which they live.
