Are you an experienced social worker or psychologist? In this key role you will utilise your calm and compassionate nature to triage legal problems and provide the support needed to ensure our most vulnerable clients can access timely and appropriate legal services. The Client Assistant Service (CAS) assists vulnerable clients to triage their legal problems and provide the support needed to ensure the client can access timely and appropriate legal services. The CAS is a client focussed and holistic service.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following:

  • Providing a specialist service of short-term case management
  • Providing a flexible and responsive trauma informed and culturally safe approach
  • Conducting risk assessments to determine suicide risk and make referrals where clients are considered high risk
  • Assist clients to draft routine correspondence concerning grants of aid

You will have:

  • A calm, non-reactive nature with the ability to handle stressful situations
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and identify urgent situations
  • The ability to learn how to use LAQ systems to best assist clients
  • A bachelor in social work, psychology or a related discipline (professional registration not required)
  • Experience completing suicide risk assessments or a willingness to complete the training
  • Interest in the legal field (but experience not required)
