Principal Portfolio Analyst

The Queensland Government Accommodation Office (QGAO) has the whole of Government responsibility for the centralised provision and management of office accommodation and government employee housing.
Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Planning, the primary purpose of this role is to:
• Identify opportunities to improve overall portfolio performance and outcomes.
• Develop major portfolio planning initiatives that contribute to improved strategic planning and portfolio performance.
The position has a strong focus on property economics, data mining, reporting and analysis.

What you will be doing
• Developing and implementing portfolio planning techniques, metrics, and systems to support QGAO's Strategic Planning Framework.
• Manage complex portfolio measurement, analysis and benchmarking activities involving large quantities of data and multifaceted calculations and evaluations.
• Providing high level property and analysis expertise to enable high quality portfolio planning that achieves measurable portfolio improvements.
• Lead the production of high-quality portfolio planning documents in accordance with QGAO's Strategic Planning Framework including the Strategic Asset Management Plan and the Strategic Portfolio Plan.
• Promulgate portfolio analysis and planning techniques, outcomes, and strategies.
• Contribute to the operations of multidisciplinary teams involved in the delivery and continuous improvement of portfolio development and management strategies.
• Negotiating and representing QGAO at intra and inter-departmental meetings, and at external forums.
• Preparation of executive correspondence.
What we are looking for
• Demonstrated high level experience in asset management within a large and diverse property portfolio.
• Demonstrated ability to generate, review and analyse data and make informed assessments and recommendations that improve portfolio performance.
• High level Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to extract and interrogate data from the department's property management system.
• Experience in producing high level comprehensive reports to analyse, present \and explain complex information in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• This position has a strong regional focus. The ability to understand, empathise, advocate and articulate regional issues is a key requirement for success in the role.
• Ability to work within a team to effectively align efforts with priorities and broader Government initiatives and mitigate risks accordingly.
• High level communication skills and demonstrated experience in communicating with colleagues, managers, staff, external stakeholders on matters relating to property and asset management.
• Ability to quickly respond and adapt to changing circumstances and negotiate favourable outcomes.
• Ability to travel overnight for up to five days duration (several times per year) to regional, rural and remote locations within Queensland.
Mandatory requirements
• A Queensland Drivers Licence
Highly Desirable
• Expertise or tertiary qualifications in Property Economics
