Senior Allied Health Clinician (Psychologist Social Worker Occupational Therapist)

The Senior Allied Health Clinician is a senior member within a multidisciplinary allied health team responsible for providing evidence based best practice clinical service and advice.
This position provides allied health services, including assessment and interventions that promote the mental health, well-being and safety of adults accommodated in correctional centres.
In conjunction with the Team Leader, the Senior Allied Health Clinician promotes and fosters capability development, including the provision of clinical supervision and mentorship.

In this role you will:
Clinical/Technical
- Provide high-level clinical services (including services of a more complex nature) within a correctional environment with a multidisciplinary team focus.
- Provide clinical consultation, discipline specific interventions and assessment, including assessments of harm to self or others.
- Develop and contribute to the review of behavioural support and management plans
- Operate independently with minimal direct clinical supervision to provide a high quality clinical service, including the ability to exercise professional judgement in solving problems and managing complex situations.
- Act as an expert resource for other staff, facilitating the development of critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills including providing clinical practice supervision.
- Be accountable for own professional development, maintaining clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities including clinical practice supervision.
- Maintain own registration and accreditation for professional specific requirements including Board Supervision (where relevant).
- Commit to professional practice by ensuring self and team members work within scope of practice and maintain professional competency.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and sentence and case management activities.
Service Improvement
- Promote a supportive environment and a willingness to share knowledge through active learning with staff, including graduates and students.
- Contribute to the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of clinical care and discipline specific services.
Leadership, Collaboration and Work Unit Management
- Assist the Team Leader with the provision of clinical advice, allocation of tasks and onboarding of staff, including recruitment activities.
- Act as an expert resource for other staff, facilitating the development of critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills including providing clinical practice supervision.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and sentence and case management activities.
- Support collaborative partnerships with relevant internal and external and stakeholders, including Psychological Services Unit and Queensland Health.

For Psychologists:
- Mandatory possession of a tertiary degree qualification in Psychology from a recognised tertiary institution and hold registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
For Social Workers:
- It is a mandatory requirement for all Social Work positions that the candidate is eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
For Occupational Therapists:
- The possession of a tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA) is a requirement for this role.
