Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for a Senior Ranger to join the team on a temporary basis, through to 30 June 2025.
As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program. This role is working with in the Technical Support Team. As the Senior Ranger, you will implement the Values Based Management Framework (VBMF) for protected areas in the GBR&MP Region, focusing on research, assessments and management plans while building partnerships with Traditional Owners and stakeholders through consultation and workshops.

Join our team as a Senior Ranger in the Technical Support Team, where you'll work across diverse and exciting environments with a passionate group of people. You will lead the Values Based Management Framework, a planning framework for Queensland's protected areas.
You will collaborate with the wider Technical Support team to assist in the development of management instruments and strategies. This role offers the unique opportunity to build partnerships with First Nations communities, working together to protect Country and preserve natural landscapes.

Role focus:
• Lead and manage a dispersed team, set priorities, allocate resources, and develop strategies and procedures.
• Build and maintain relationships with Traditional Owners, stakeholders and other groups to promote conservation and park usage.
• Oversee emergency response, compliance, staff training, and recovery after natural disasters, ensuring effective resource management.
• Manage budgets, infrastructure projects, and participate in agency planning, providing technical input and preparing complex correspondence.
To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:
• An unrestricted manual driver's license or be prepared to obtain a manual license if you do not.
• While no formal qualifications are required for this role, possession of a relevant qualification/s will be highly regarded.
