In the role of Senior Advisor (Indigenous Strategy) some of your responsibilities will include:
• Assist in the development of the skills, knowledge and behaviour needed across TMR in relation to delivering the TMR Indigenous Strategy by providing strategic and specialised advice, support and guidance on cultural capability development and stakeholder relationships.
• Identify, build and maintain strong and productive working relationships with employees who identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander as well as non-Indigenous staff, to provide quality and culturally appropriate advice to TMR Indigenous Strategy.
• Plan, support, improve and deliver services in a culturally respectful, sensitive and appropriate manner by providing information and advice on cultural issues and Indigenous perspectives that are relevant to TMR's Indigenous Strategy and working relationships with Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander employees, businesses and communities.
• Provide coordination, strategic advice and analysis on TMR's Indigenous Strategy through active involvement in working groups, as required.
• Manage and contribute to project delivery (concept to finalisation) by assisting in developing, monitoring, co-ordinating and reporting on TMR's accountable actions under the Queensland Government Reconciliation Plan, Reframing the Relationship plan and other whole of government reporting requirements, as required.
• Maintain contemporary knowledge and historical factors of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander matters to provide accurate and timely information to internal stakeholders on legislative, policy, procedural and/or administrative matters to support TMR's Indigenous Strategy and First Nations employee needs and objectives.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. One of the referees must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Desirable qualifications and conditions
• Queensland Drivers licence required for the role as intrastate travel will be required.
To be successful in this role, you can recognise and articulate the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, consulting according to cultural protocols. You have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, communicating effectively to foster trust, respect, and integrity.
