Senior Ranger (Aviation)

This role provides technical support and advice regarding QPWS&P’s air work and use of remotely piloted aircraft in managing the protected area and forest estate. It will be responsible for developing and supporting aviation-related policy and guidelines, coordinating aviation-specific training, and supporting aviation governance and reporting. The role also involves representing QPWS&P on internal (technical groups) and external forums, including participating in interagency working groups.

As the Senior Ranger (Aviation), you will:
- Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to provide operational direction for aviation activities to align with best practice in the key areas of aviation policy, procedure, and training.
- Provide advice and support within a multi-disciplinary team and participate as a proactive member of the Fire Services Branch.
- Research and analyse information and prepare correspondence, reports, briefings, and submissions regarding the development, progress, and delivery of key projects and issues related to aviation management.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including QPWS&P regions, other divisions, state and local governments, and aviation industry stakeholders, and provide advice as required.
- Assist the Fire Services Branch to represent QPWS&P in industry forums, interdepartmental and other committees.
- Prepare complex correspondence, including ministerial documents and briefings for decision by senior officers.
- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
