We have a temporary (duration approx 8 months) position available in our dynamic Intelligence and GIS team, within the Environmental Regulator division of the department. The Team Leader (AO7) GIS position will lead a group of analysts, who are primarily GIS specialists. You will apply your own experience and knowledge to deliver superior GIS support products for regulatory purposes, as well as develop the skills of team members.

The GIS Team Leader, AO7 is a role in which you will:
• Lead, manage, mentor and supervise the day-to-day operations of a multidisciplinary (primarily GIS) team undertaking a range of GIS & data related analytical tasks and activities.
• Assign work appropriately to the team to achieve statutory, administrative and/or other agreed timeframes by assessing the degree of risk and complexity of each work request, and contribute to operational performance by monitoring and assessing individual and team activity levels and reviewing work output to ensure consistency with contemporary Administrative Decision Making Principles
• Provide expert GIS advice, guidance and direction to the team, managing escalated and/or more technically complex and contentious issues, for the development and endorsement of approaches and/or options for approval by the delegate
• Represent ESR's GIS objectives in technically complex stakeholder and customer negotiations and communicate with influence to contribute to the resolution of contentious matters
• Review the preparation of, and/or prepare timely GIS products , ministerial and executive correspondence, submissions, publications, and other correspondence on environmental management issues
• Liaise, consult, coordinate and work collaboratively with business groups within ESR and coordinate with other government departments as necessary, to support the implementation of legislative, policy and operational delivery
• Review and implement approved local practices, systems and processes and implement workplace initiatives, strategies, policies and guidelines, including Workplace Health and Safety to enable the team to meets its objectives and communicate changes with the team to ensure team members are aware of their obligations
• Manage work relationships to encourage cooperation and build capability through encouraging sharing of individual experiences, learnings and explaining delegate decisions, and by identifying opportunities for professional development
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.
