The Psychosocial Response Unit undertakes compliance and engagement activities to ensure stakeholders are fulfilling their obligations in relation to the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (The Act) and the code.

As the Principal Inspector you will work autonomously within the Psychosocial Response Unit in the Licensing and Regulatory Interventions directorate to work with industry to improve health and safety in Queensland workplaces. This position contributes to the recommendations from the Best Practice Review of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.

○ Successful applicants must have, or be able to acquire, a current driver's licence;
○ Successful applicants must have, or be able to rapidly acquire, the computer skills necessary to accurately and efficiently input and retrieve data on Workplace Health and Safety Queensland's event and investigations databases;
○ Successful applicants who are new to the inspector role will be required to complete Workplace Health and Safety Queensland's new inspector induction program. Upon completion of the induction program, new inspectors will be required to undertake a minimum of six months field-based experience before they are eligible to complete the Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection);
○ It is possible that inspectors and advisors may be required to inspect workplaces where there is a risk of exposure to pathogens. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland will fund the immunisation of staff who are exposed to these conditions as part of their role. Successful applicants will be required to provide formal consent for any immunisation that is provided;
○ Inspectors will be required to participate in on-call and weekend roster work; and
○ From time to time, inspectors may be required to work from another office from which they were initially appointed.
