Senior Project Officer

Are you passionate about creating meaningful change & protecting Queensland’s iconic reef? We are looking for a Senior Project Officer to lead innovative projects that drive sustainable agricultural practices & deliver real-world impact.
In this role, you will manage practice change projects, extension activities & industry led Best Management Practice programs. You will oversee budgets, track milestones & evaluate project performance while translating behavioural insights & evidence based research into policy & best practice standards. Collaboration with stakeholders will be key as you contribute to program design, stakeholder engagement, & analysis activities.

Your contribution
As a Senior Project Officer, you will manage workloads & meet deadlines while contributing to the planning, delivery & evaluation of projects. You will maintain project documentation, provide advice to management, & support issue resolution. Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including industry, producers, scientists, & government, will be key to ensuring effective project design & implementation. You will also provide technical & policy advice, conduct research & analysis, & prepare ministerial correspondence & briefings to support policy development & engagement activities.

About you
You have strong experience in project & program management, including planning, defining scope, delivering outcomes, & managing budgets within set timeframes. Your knowledge of agricultural land & catchment management, along with relevant policy, legislation, & contemporary agricultural practices, is well-developed. You work effectively both autonomously & as part of a team, meeting deadlines, setting priorities, & contributing to organisational goals. With excellent written & verbal communication, consultation, negotiation, & liaison skills, you represent the department professionally with stakeholders & industry. Your proven ability to analyse data, evaluate complex issues, & solve problems across science, policy, & legislation supports environmental & water quality outcomes in reef catchments. You embody leadership behaviours, champion workplace safety, & foster equity, diversity, respect, & inclusion by bringing your unique perspectives to the team.
