Two permanent Assessment Officer positions exist at Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC)! In this role, you will investigate, assess, and determine claims under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme (QHWS), ensuring homeowners get the protection they deserve. You'll also play a vital role in communicating and providing expert advice to both homeowners and Service Providers, guiding claims assessments, approvals, and the delivery of rectification works.

Work flexibly from either Brisbane or one of our regional centers; Cairns, Gold Coast, Mackay, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Townsville, Sunshine Coast. *Based on office availability.
The successful candidate will also have the option to engage in a work from home arrangement that suits the Division under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement.
Key Outcomes and Accountabilities
- Ensure that the performance and effectiveness of QBCC's Claims Approval under the QHWS is continually improved by the assessment of claims for defective or incomplete building work;
- Assist the Senior Lead and Managers in monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the insurance scheme's performance.
- Investigate and assess insurance claims in accordance with relevant legislation, insurance policy conditions, guidelines and procedures to accurately determine claim entitlements and approve related claim payments to delegated level.
- Provide advice and opinions to the Senior Assessment Officers, Principal Resolution Officers and Senior Lead's in regard to claims under the QHWS.
- Representation of QBCC's position in relation to reviews of decisions before the QCAT.
- Undertake other general duties that contribute toward the ongoing improvement of Resolution Services claims management and foster a cohesive team environment.
Candidate Attributes
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the building and construction and insurance industries.
- Apply legislation, policies, and procedures in the context of claims under the QHWS.
- Demonstrate sound investigative, analytical problem solving and decision-making skills, including prioritising, planning, and organising an on-going caseload.
- Demonstrate sound skills in communicating, consulting, liaising and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, managers, staff and customers, including identifying customer needs, and providing customers with relevant information and quality customer service.
