Role details

The Digital and Information Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nursing Director to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Nursing Director actively participates in the MHHS Nursing Executive team and provides professional leadership and expertise to support the Strategic Plan 2016-2020.

The Nursing Director has divisional responsibility for nursing staff across expansive clinical services and complex patient demographics including Digital Health Services.

The Nursing Director provides professional expertise and executive nursing leadership for the overall planning, coordination and direction of evidence based nursing services within the Digital Health Solutions to ensure safe, clinically effective, consumer-centred nursing care.

The Nursing Director leads nursing care to facilitate quality patient outcomes in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service standards, professional standards and organisational policies and procedures.

About the Team

The Mackay Base Hospital boasts the most advanced usage of functionality in the statewide electronic medical record. This position supports the organisation to maximise utilisation of the application to enable innovative models of care and is integral to supporting multidisciplinary workforce redesign to support digital transformation. Mackay HHS is well placed to influence future models of nursing work and support evidence-based analysis of nursing work and validation of the impact to patient care and outcomes.

The future state vision for the MHHS Digital Hospital Program remains to:

“Transition from digital hospital to digital health as business as usual through improved user adoption, effective workflows and clinical practices, research, innovation and translating data and informatics to improve workflows and patient outcomes”.

About our Hospital and Health Service

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
