QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. Mandatory Requirements differs for licenced trades
- Eligibility to work in Australia
- Current trade certificate/qualification (minimum of Certificate III Cabinet Making and Timber Technology)
- Current Construction Industry White Card
- Current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent
- Working knowledge and compliance with current work health, safety and environmental legislation and codes of practice
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing essential services to government-owned assets, including construction, maintenance, and restoration. Support the government's response to disaster events and take a lead role in training the next generation of tradespeople.
Duties and skills involved:
- Working effectively both independently and as part of a team, while mentoring apprentices and tradespersons.
- Applying quality control techniques and exercising discretion to produce work to a high standard.
- Completing required paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Demonstrating knowledge of commercial and residential maintenance principles, including relevant legislation, regulations, and codes.
- Fabricating, assembling, and installing cabinetry safely such as cupboards, workstations, and presentation frames, using hand tools, power tools, and joinery machinery.
- Conducting on-site measurements, producing material lists from plans, and performing spray application of single pack and two-pack finishes.
- Using CAD/CAM systems for routine modifications and inputting data via systems such as Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Following safe working methods, particularly regarding asbestos handling and other high-risk tasks, while identifying hazards and managing risks.
- Taking responsibility for personal health and safety, including using PPE, safely handling manual tasks, and working in physically demanding environments such as bending, twisting, squatting, and on uneven surfaces.
Additional information
- You may be required to undertake duties within your trade at worksites throughout both your appointed region and the State.
- When undertaking distant work, there may also be a requirement for overnight stays of up to a 3 -week period.
- Safety clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
- You may be asked to undertake team leader and/or foreperson roles as and when required to suit the needs of the business.
- Power tools will be provided where required.
- The use of a private motor vehicle and/or potential provision of a QBuild vehicle will be in accordance with relevant motor vehicle policies.
