The Director, Program and Operational Support (POS), leads a multidisciplinary team supporting all Compliance and Field Services (CFS) portfolio areas. This includes two core functions: delivering a proactive, data-driven compliance program aligned to a three-year strategic plan, and enabling capability development and operational support across CFS.
Key responsibilities
- Champion the health, safety, and wellbeing of your team, ensuring compliance with all relevant OIR HSW policies and procedures.
- Lead the design and delivery of an evidence-based proactive compliance program for the CFS Inspectorate, aligned with regulatory and strategic objectives.
- Drive the development and implementation of capability-building initiatives in collaboration with OIR stakeholders, regional managers, and technical experts.
Contribute to the development and execution of the CFS strategic plan.
- Represent CFS on internal and external committees to promote key initiatives and build influence.
- Oversee governance activities such as internal audits and the management of customer complaints.
- Prepare high-level reports, briefings, correspondence, and submissions as required by the Executive Director.
- Provide clear operational and strategic guidance to your team in line with organisational performance standards.
- Manage a diverse, high-performing team by offering mentoring, leadership, and support to achieve team objectives.
- Foster continuous improvement by standardising authorisation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Build and manage relationships with external stakeholders including industry, researchers, WHS jurisdictions, and other partners to foster collaboration and partnerships.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate strategic priorities, enhance responsiveness, and support capability development.
- Be adaptable and ready to undertake alternative duties or work in different locations as needed to support service delivery.
About the Role
This position involves managing exposure to potentially distressing or confronting material. Professional supervision and access to employee support services are available. Applicants should consider their personal resilience for long-term success in the role.
As a manager of workers, you will have responsibilities under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), including the duty to identify and manage physical and psychosocial hazards. This includes implementing and verifying control measures and ensuring team members receive appropriate information, training, and supervision. Reference should be made to the Managing the risk of psychosocial hazards at work Code of Practice (2022) and the OIR Health Safety Wellbeing Safety Management System.
About the team
The Program and Operational Support team provides strategic oversight and ensures consistency and responsiveness in service delivery. The team plays a key role in governance, actively participating in committees and working groups, addressing emerging issues, and keeping the Executive Director well informed.
