As Executive Director, Planning and Heritage, you will head up a newly formed team that brings together heritage and environmental planning functions into one integrated branch.
With around 35 FTEs, your remit will be to lead the culture, lift capability, provide strategy to balance conservation and economic development, and build a more connected, future focused way of working.

About the Role
As the Executive Director you will:
• lead meaningful change in how planning and heritage operate together in Queensland.
• represent the department and Queensland Government in high level negotiations and forums on complex planning and cultural heritage matters with senior executives, government agencies, and key stakeholders.
• build collaborative relationships across government, communities, First Nations peoples, industry, and environmental groups to deliver meaningful solutions.
This role offers a Total Fixed Renumeration salary of $241, 582 -$261, 057 package per year (with 3% increase on 01 July).
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring your strong leadership credentials, ideally with some planning experience and a confident grasp of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Your leadership will guide the team through a cultural shift, strengthen communication, and align planning and heritage activity with broader departmental goals and economic development priorities.
• The focus is on a balanced approach, protecting what matters, reimagining what is possible, and enabling heritage to play an active role in Queensland's future.
• You are curious leader who is creative and focused on finding what can be done.
• Demonstrate your strong understanding of governance, policy and regulatory frameworks, drawing on relevant experience from your previous roles.
