Fisheries Support Officer
Fisheries Queensland, Fisheries and Forestry, Brisbane City
Operating from within Fisheries Queensland, you will work across the Fisheries Management team to assist with the day-to-day management of Queensland’s fisheries, aquaculture and stocked impoundment scheme, licensing and permits and the shark control program managed under the Fisheries Act 1994.
A key responsibility will be managing statutory delegations and the policy register along with administering the annual fisheries grant program and General Fisheries Permit program.
The position will also support the team with policy research and data analysis for key fisheries projects.

The position reports to the Senior Fisheries Manager (Legislation) and will provide support with preparation of policy documentation, correspondence, briefing notes, policy documentation and any other support activities.
• Prepare reports, briefings, correspondence, operational policies and procedures and other materials that support the effective management of Queensland's fisheries and aquaculture resources.
• Maintain statutory delegations under the Fisheries Act 1994 and a policy register.
• Administer a range of community, commercial fishing, charter fishing and Indigenous fishing grant programs.
• Undertake a range of policy research and data analysis.
• Assist with policy and legislative change processes including preparing engagement, consultation and implementation materials.
• Assist with processing General Fisheries Permits
• Assist with Licensing transactions
• In addition, the position will undertake other duties as directed
