Assistant Principal Ranger


Southern Parks & Forests Regional Operations; Management & Operations; Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships; Toowoomba, Roma or Charleville

This position plays a key role in leading a small team managing & coordinating the delivery of operational programs specifically related to First Nations engagement, post contact & Indigenous Cultural Heritage management & Native Title matters across the South-West Region. The region includes diverse, natural environments across 3 million hectares of protected areas including Carnarvon, Bunya Mountains & Main Range National Parks.

This role is open to all applicants, however applicants with disability or who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander that meet the minimum requirements for the role will be given priority consideration & invited to participate in the next selection activity.

Your contribution: 
• Develop systems, procedures and standards to support delivery of protected area management activities specifically related to First Nations engagement, post contact & Indigenous Cultural Heritage management and Native Title matters.
• Interpret and apply legislation and policies, produce procedures and training material, and communicate with influence with First Nations Groups and a wide
range of stakeholders.
• Implement, evaluate and provide advice on policies, procedures and legislation relating to the administration of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service response to native title claims, native title determinations and other native title matters.
• Proactively build and sustain positive relationships and liaise and consult with relevant Government Departments and (as required) with local authorities, the
National Native Title Tribunal, Registered Native Title Body Corporates, Land Councils, peak industry groups, members of the public and Aboriginal people and
Torres Strait Islander people on matters relevant to native title claims, native title determinations and other native title matters.
