About the Role
As Principal Advisor, Industry and Engagement, you'll join the Specialised Health Safety Services (SHSS) directorate's Industry Engagement team, working with limited supervision to lead initiatives that improve industry awareness and promote safer, healthier workplaces throughout Queensland.
You'll engage with a wide range of stakeholders—from internal OIR teams to external industry representatives, unions, and academics—to design and deliver strategic, evidence-informed interventions and engagement programs. Your work will directly support OIR's strategic objectives and drive change where it matters most.
Key responsibilities:
• Support strategic direction in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed innovative, industry interventions and engagement programs.
• Provide high-level project management and leadership to ensure programs are responsive, effective, efficient delivered on time, within budget and to stated quality standards.
• Contribute to the implementation of WHS strategy frameworks in collaboration with OIR's technical, policy and inspectorate work units to achieve OIR's strategic objectives.
• Support development of capability frameworks for the effective delivery of strategy and workplace advisory programs, within the SHSS Directorate.
• Contributes to the development of legislation and standards for enhancing the systematic management of health and safety within priority industries and hazard areas.
• Support the delivery of customer-driven, innovative, and effective health and safety advisory services which assist priority businesses to manage health and safety and injury management outcomes effectively and practically.
• Leverage program outcomes to promote the return-on-investment benefits of workplace health and safety, injury management and safety culture and leadership.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders by managing relationships with OIR partners, industry and employee representatives, academics, other WHS jurisdictions and other stakeholder to create collaborations and partnership opportunities.
• Prepare complex project management and technical reports, correspondence, and high-level briefs as directed.
• Oversee monitoring and evaluation frameworks to report on strategy, programs and initiatives within the scope of the role.
