Your New Team

With a refreshed structure and clear strategic direction, the Prosecutions and General Advocacy Branch is poised for new leadership. This high-performing team delivers trusted legal services across government, including complex statutory prosecutions, Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 applications, and forensic orders under the Mental Health Act 2016. The team also handles matters arising from the specialist functions of the Attorney-General as the first law officer of the State, as well as coronial inquiries, professional regulation matters, workers compensation fraud - ensuring Crown Law remains at the forefront of Queensland litigation.

Your New Role

As Deputy Crown Solicitor, you'll lead with purpose—balancing urgent litigation demands with strategic oversight and operational rigour. You'll guide a specialist team through complex matters, serve as a key escalation point for risk, and ensure decisions align with government priorities. Working closely with the Crown Solicitor, you'll contribute to broader leadership, mentor senior staff, and build strong client relationships. This role suits a respected leader who thrives on complexity, builds capability, and drives outcomes that shape public law in Queensland.

Your Skills Profile

• 15+ years' PAE in litigation, prosecutions or regulatory law—ideally within government or tribunals
• Experienced leader, confident managing senior teams and mentoring under pressure
• Strategic mindset and sound judgment with strong experience to deal with complex and urgent matters, and public interest issues
• Strong stakeholder manager across agencies, tribunals and senior government clients
• Commercially minded, aligned with Crown Law's self-funded model
• Committed to staff wellbeing, particularly in trauma-exposed environments
• Admitted in Queensland and eligible to appear in the Federal Court of Australia
