What is a Podiatrist Trainee?
A Podiatrist Trainee is someone enrolled in an approved Australian University Podiatry degree and employed in a health service.
As a Podiatrist Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience working under the supervision of an experienced Podiatrist. Some of the tasks you may be asked to assist with include:
- Diagnosing and treating a wide variety of lower limb conditions
- Checking blood flow and undertaking assessments to determin the risk of amputation
- Fitting and adjustments of orthopaedic aids like moonboots or insoles
- Applying medical padding, strapping and dressings
- Assisting with minor surgical procedures

Podiatrist Trainee's will be employed at a Health Practitioner Level 1 (HP1) for up to 2 days per week and will be paid in line with award rates.

As a Podiatrist Trainee you will be supported by a Queensland Health Podiatrist supervisor and have access to loads of professional development resources to help you with your training.
Role Requirements:
To be considered you must:
- Be enrolled or eligible to enrol in full time or part time study in a recognised Podiatry degree.
- Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): Health Care Workers in Queensland Health whose occupation poses a potential risk of exposure to blood or body fluids are required to provide evidence of vaccinations or proof that they are not susceptible (due to prior exposure to the disease and therefore have natural immunity) to VPD's according to the Queensland Health Policy.
