We're looking for a driven and proactive individual to undertake the Program Officer role within the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling. As a member you'll contribute to delivering funding to Queensland councils and businesses to increase recycling, reduce waste to landfill and drive environmental outcomes across the state. Your strong organisation skills will assist in managing a wide range of projects to ensure outcomes are delivered for the department and its stakeholders.

Your contribution:
As the Program Officer, you will:
• assist in the development of documents that support the delivery of waste reduction and recycling programs including background and research papers, briefing notes, project plans, risk management plans and communication plans.
• support the development and delivery of the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling's program design and delivery through continual improvement of business protocols and processes relating to program governance and contract management activities.
• develop and maintain effective working relationships within the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, the department and external stakeholder organisations.
• play a key part in contributing to a high performing team to deliver the program of work within timeframes, budget, and quality standards.
• foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.

About you:
For this role, you'll need:
• proven research and analysis skills including the ability to provide evidence-based advice.
• demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively liaise with internal and external staff and stakeholders.
• demonstrated program management skills including the ability to focus on accountability and deliverables, meet deadlines, establish priorities, work autonomously and work as an effective member of a team to successfully contribute to organisational objectives.
• knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, public sector legislation, policies and standards relating to waste reduction and recycling, waste and resource recovery or environmental protection relevant to Queensland.
• relevant technical knowledge or skills in finance and program or project development, delivery or management would be highly regarded. Though not a requirement, this role would be suitable for recent university graduates.
• contribution to workplace safety, equity, diversity, respect and inclusion by bringing your unique experiences and perspectives.
