The oppotunity:
As our Technician (Aquaculture) in the Fisheries and Aquaculture RD&E team you will:
• Undertake all operational aspects of oyster hatchery production to a high standard, and maintain an exceptional level of hatchery hygiene.
• Monitor oyster broodstock, spat and larvae health and assess the stage of gonadal development and reproductive maturation.
• Undertake grading, sorting and larval density adjustments to determine optimal feeding requirements for maintaining optimal larval conditions.
• Establish and maintain all stages of microalgae production in an axenic environment and monitor and assess algal quality.
• Accurately plan to ensure that suitable strains and quantities of algae are produced before required and available as needed.
• Undertake trials using existing and novel approaches to maximise spat settlement conditions and outcomes for a range of oyster species.

What we are looking for:
There are some qualifications that we see as essential. You must possess:
• Minimum of a Diploma or Associate Diploma in Applied Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Science or equivalent.
You must also have:
• A current ‘C' class drivers licence.

You will have a keen eye for detail, great time management and effective problemsolving skills. More than anything, you will have a positive attitude and make a great contribution to our close-knit and connected team.
