We’re seeking a highly organised and experienced leader that can oversee the coastal, environmental, and bioregional planning functions in the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation. You’ll lead the development and implementation of planning policies, oversee complex projects, and deliver programs with and through others. It’s a small but mighty team that’s future focussed, grounded in evidence, and deeply committed to protecting, developing, and delivering for Queensland.

Your contribution 
This is your opportunity to lead a small but mighty team responsible for the development and implementation of planning policies, complex projects, and collaborative programs that help deliver sustainable growth for Queensland.

This includes administering the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995 and applying State planning policies and programs related to biodiversity, heritage, water quality, coastal environments, coastal hazards, and air and noise emissions. You'll also be responsible for delivering the bioregional planning pilots in partnership with Queensland government agencies and the Australian Government.

To do this well, you'll need to be a highly organised and experienced leader, that can focus on getting things done with and through others. Effectively managing scope, schedule, and resources, and confidently representing the department in high-level negotiations and consultations, will be key.

Above all, you'll have the privilege of leading a highly experienced team with a deep commitment to the vision and purpose of the department. As Director, your job will be to lead the team in such a way that the level of trust and energy felt by individuals and the team generates continuous and sustained improvements in performance.

About you 
You'll be a highly organised and experienced leader, that can focus on getting things done with and through others. You'll lead the team in such a way that the level of trust and energy felt by individuals and the team generates continuous and sustained improvements in performance.

You'll have a good understanding of planning and environment frameworks in Queensland and can navigate complex issues and develop practical solutions. You'll have experience working with a broad range of stakeholders, including on tricky and contentious issues.

Your drive and project leadership skills will ensure priorities are delivered on time, with impact, and deliver lasting value.
