Take the lead in protecting our marine environment. Reporting to the Ranger in Charge, you’ll manage day-to-day park operations, including marine animal rescue, maintaining marine assets, monitoring natural values such as seagrass, turtles, and sharks, enforcing compliance zones and handling emergency responses. You will regularly work on commercial vessels as master or crew and be involved in diving operations. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging the public and promoting marine park values through education and presentations.

Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for a Ranger to join the team on a temporary basis.
As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Additionally, the Region oversees the state's southern marine parks - Great Sandy Marine Park and Moreton Bay Marine Park.
Marine Park Rangers help care for and protect marine parks on both land and sea.
Marine Park Rangers also work closely with Traditional Owners to respect and maintain cultural values.
This role will manage the daily operations of Moreton Bay Marine Park, including wildlife monitoring, marine animal rescue, compliance enforcement, and emergency response. You will work on commercial vessels, maintain equipment and engage the public through education.

Role focus:
• Lead and coordinate work teams to deliver projects, manage resources and maintain park infrastructure, including natural and cultural resource management.
• Handle customer service, education, compliance enforcement, and assist in investigations related to park regulations.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans for natural disasters, search and rescue and medical emergencies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, and promote inclusive workplace culture.
To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:
• An automatic/ unrestricted manual driver's licence.
• Formal qualifications in environmental management or marine biology would be highly regarded.
• Additionally, Coxswain's and/or dive qualifications would be highly regarded.
