Your New Team:
With about 40 people including lawyers, paralegals and secretarial staff the Workplace Law team is one of the largest in the State. It brings together lawyers from diverse backgrounds: top-tier and national firms, government, industry and
long-standing Crown Law practitioners.
The team covers the full spectrum of workplace law, from industrial disputes, applications and union matters, to discrimination and harassment complaints, to WorkCover reviews and appeals. For a Senior Lawyer, this means exposure to a
wide variety of challenging, high-profile matters that have real impact across Queensland.
Your New Role:
We are currently seeking two Senior Lawyers to join the Workplace Law team. In these roles, you will provide legal advice and representation on a range of workplace law matters. You will conduct your own matters with independence, while also supporting more senior lawyers on the most complex cases.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high-quality written and oral advice to government clients.
• Appear in and instruct counsel before tribunals and courts, in both the State and Federal jurisdictions.
• Draft legal documents, submissions and correspondence for a range of matters.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective service delivery.
• Support and collaborate with colleagues within the team, contributing to a culture of knowledge-sharing and development.
Your Skills Profile:
• At least 4 years' post-admission experience, with a background in employment, industrial relations, or discrimination law.
• Strong legal research, analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent drafting and advocacy ability, with tribunal or court experience desirable.
• Effective communication skills, able to deliver clear, practical advice.
• Collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute to team capability and support peers.
