This regulatory role focuses on working with agricultural producers in the Great Barrier Reef catchment area of Queensland. Applicants should be aware that the position is land-based, centred around engaging with industry stakeholders to improve agricultural practices.

As an Agricultural Officer (Environment), you will be responsible for delivering onground regulatory activities, such as farm inspections and permit assessments, to ensure compliance with agricultural standards. You will engage with stakeholders, including agricultural producers, advisors, and industry partners, using tailored communication strategies to promote the voluntary adoption of regulated farm practices. Collaboration with your team will be key to addressing complex environmental issues and developing innovative regulatory approaches. You will also recommend enforcement actions where necessary and drive continuous improvement by seeking innovative solutions to manage environmental risks. Finally, you will work to enhance the effectiveness of our regulatory activities through ongoing refinement and innovation.

We are in search of individuals that have the ability to communicate effectively, engage with stakeholders, and demonstrate a commitment to vision, results and accountability. We are looking for motivated team players who value team culture and can work seamlessly with both their team members and broader departmental staff. A background in agriculture, regulation, environmental science, or related fields is highly valued, but not essential.

You may not have worked in a regulatory capacity previously, but you should have the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and legislative frame works and their implementation.
