Queensland State Archives (QSA) connects Queenslanders with their past, the histories of their families, the local community and the state by managing and providing access to Queensland’s most significant historical records.
As the Digital Preservation Lead you will help build the digital archival collection, ensuring that the State’s permanent-value born-digital records are, ingested, managed and preserved for future generations. You will work collaboratively in a dynamic team engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including Queensland Government public authorities.

As Digital Preservation Lead you will lead the effective and efficient operation of digital preservation services at QSA. You will oversee the management of transfers, ingest, curation and discoverability of Queensland Government permanent value born-digital records. You will work collaboratively in a dynamic team engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
In this role you will:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Queensland public authorities, including encouraging, facilitating and supporting the transfer of born-digital records from public authorities to QSA
- Provide advice, guidance and support to Queensland public authorities on embedding digital preservation into recordkeeping practices
- Develop and maintain expertise in QSA's digital preservation system and other preservation tools including providing advanced support to teams using the system
- Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on preservation formats, metadata, digital transfers, digital records management, and imaging best practices for a variety of file formats and carrier types
- Oversee, develop and execute digital preservation workflows that meet collection, access and user needs
- Undertake digital preservation activities and monitor the health of the digital collection
- Research, analyse and prepare written documentation on various topics associated with digital preservation and digital recordkeeping
- Contribute to project work and collaborate effectively across QSA teams
- Supervise and support officers in a team and/or project
- Model behaviours that foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, promoting an environment of strong customer service, collaboration and teamwork
- Undertake other duties as directed by the Manager, Digital Archives and Director, Digital Archives and Collections.
