Principal Project Officer
Water Supply Regulation; Regulation and Operational Support; Water Resource Management; Brisbane preferred, however flexible location at DLGWV offices will be considered
Operating from within Water Supply Regulation in the department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers, you will lead a small team to develop and implement projects and programs in support of the Division’s responsibilities for the regulation of drinking and recycled water quality. The Water Supply Regulation team is responsible for all aspects of regulatory oversight in Queensland from the development and implementation of support programs to undertaking formal compliance activities, under the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.

The Role:
You will lead a team to ensure the successful implementation of project deliverables to support the regulatory functions, address departmental requirements and pursue continued business improvement. Monitoring and reporting on milestones and outcomes will be required.
Key Accountabilities:
· Plan and coordinate the development and overall implementation of projects and programs for the successful delivery of the Division's responsibilities for the regulation of drinking and recycled water including the recommendations of the Queensland Audit Office (QAO) report.
· Coordinate the development of project plans, issues and risk management measures, resourcing, project deliverables and change requests recognising emerging issues.
· Plan and coordinate program and project measurement, tracking, monitoring and reporting.
· Plan and coordinate document, records, and data management arrangements for programs and projects in accordance with DLGWV requirements.
· Ensure consistent reporting on programs, projects and sub-projects to senior management and where necessary identify areas requiring direction, resource adjustments and support from senior management.
· Collaborate, liaise and engage with other State Government agencies, water sector entities and their representatives in the ongoing implementation of programs and projects.
· Collaborate with industry and key internal and external stakeholders to positively influence and drive improvement in the regulation of drinking and recycled water through effective program implementation.
· Co-ordinate and provide input to business and compliance planning and reporting.
· Co-ordinate and monitor the business unit's communication and stakeholder engagement activities.
· Co-ordinate and prepare reports, correspondence and briefing papers for senior and executive management, industry peak bodies and for the Minister.
· Plan, coordinate and supervise the work of indirect and direct reports (where applicable) in meeting overall project and program objectives.
About You:
· There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however, a tertiary degree in science or engineering would be highly regarded.
· Previous experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
