Senior Advocacy Officers contribute to policy and practice development including undertaking complex advocacy. Advocacy may be required across a variety of areas including child protection, disability support, mental health, forensic disability services and youth justice. Senior Advocacy Officers provide support to frontline operational teams across CVA.

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an independent statutory office established to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired decision-making capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system and other visitable sites.

Your key responsibilities

• Receive and assess complex and sensitive information regarding CVA clients to determine all potential avenues of advocacy, referral and/or escalation within CVAs legislative functions.
• Establish and maintain positive connections with regional care and service providers and government agencies such as the National Disability Insurance
Agency (NDIA), Child Safety, Youth Justice and Queensland Health.
• Work effectively as a team member and support others in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure collaboration and engagement that will lead to the successful delivery of client services.
• Identify, review and update policies, procedures and reporting guidelines in consultation with the CVA management team to improve processes and enhance the quality of outcomes.
• Undertake data analysis and trend reporting.
• Educate local communities about the role and functions of the Office of the Public Guardian and participate in community engagement under the guidance of CVA management or broader executive team.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records of the management of advocacy matters.

Qualifications and conditions

You must possess a C class drivers' licence as a mandatory requirement for this role.

A mandatory condition of this role is a Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card). If you do not already have one, OPG will guide you on how to apply.
