How you'll contribute
As General Counsel and Assistant Director-General, you will lead the Legal Services team, providing expert legal counsel and support to the Director-General and the department on critical matters. In this role, you'll:
• Deliver high-level strategic advice on complex legal matters, including on
- emerging critical issues for the Government,
- constitutional and administrative law matters,
- sensitive litigation, claims and disputes.
• Provide advice and insights on the department's governance and integrity frameworks and ensure they align with contemporary best practice and robust legislative requirements.
• Represent the department at national forums, committees, and intergovernmental engagements, driving collaboration to address priorities and significant legal issues.
