An exciting and unique opportunity exists for an enthusiastic teacher to join the Vocational Training Queensland (VTQ) team. VTQ is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) owned by the Department of Education. The primary purpose of VTQ is to deliver both accredited and non-accredited training to at-risk and disengaged youth to improve their literacy and numeracy skills and increase their future pathway opportunities.

The ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrated skills and experience in developing and delivering literacy and numeracy certificate qualifications to students with diverse learning needs and from a range of settings, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, speakers of English as an additional language or dialect, young people with learning difficulties and early school leavers.

Proficient literacy and skills in digital technologies are essential to the role.  In addition, the ability to develop and deliver high-quality professional learning to staff in communities who are supporting students 'on the ground' and developing engaging learning materials that are accessible to a range of students will be an advantage. Whilst the ability to travel on occasion is desired, it is not an essential element of the role. The successful candidate will join a dedicated and professional team that are motivated to achieve results. Vocational Training Queensland (VTQ) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) owned by the Department of Education. The primary purpose of VTQ is to deliver both accredited and non-accredited training to at-risk and disengaged youth to improve literacy and numeracy skills and increase pathway options across the state. Our Certificates in General Education for Adults (CGEA) support learners from ACSF levels 1 - 4 and our non-accredited prevocational literacy and numeracy coursework is aligned to the Australian Curriculum general capabilities in Literacy and Numeracy and is used for systematic development in foundational literacy and numeracy skills. The successful candidate will join a dedicated and professional team that are motivated to achieve results and improve educational outcomes.

Highly desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Assessor Skills Set (VTQ will consider supporting outstanding candidates with course/skillset qualifications)
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and delivering learning and assessment materials, focused on literacy and numeracy skills development.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in mapping LL&N courses to VET and school curriculum, General Capabilities and the Literacy and Numeracy Learning Progressions and requirements.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in teaching literacy and numeracy programs to diverse groups of at risk and disengaged youths.
