Senior Adviser, Women's Adult Education and VET

In this role you will advise and oversee the provision of Adult Education and Vocational Education and Training (AEVET) for female offenders. The role supports the implementation of AEVET within QCS and undertakes ongoing monitoring of education services for female offenders with the view to continuous improvement of service delivery. It assists in ensuring that contracted services are delivered as intended in terms of overall outcomes sought by the Agency, and that they are provided in accordance with agreed timeframes and relevant standards, KPI's, agreed course outputs and outcomes and the Government’s priorities and commitments to improving the experiences, treatment, and rehabilitation of women in QCS custody and care. In addition, this position provides assistance, training and support to Agency staff and contracted providers delivering AEVET within women's correctional centres.

The Senior Adviser Women's Adult Education and VET will:
- Support the development, implementation, delivery and continuous improvement of women's education and vocational education and training services in accordance with endorsed models and contracts with external providers.
- Monitor the delivery of women's education and vocational education and training services state-wide and promote continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Improve access to education through service integration, consistency and continuity of service, reduce barriers to access and ensure equity of service provision, ensuring women's individual and collective needs are considered.
- Coordinate quality assurance processes for the delivery of women's education and vocational education and training services.
- Coordinate site monitoring processes to support service design integrity and monitor adherence to the relevant performance and outcome indicators.
- Monitor the delivery of women's education and vocational education and training services to ensure quality and relevance particularly to priority groups such as women who identify as First Nations, youthful offenders and offenders with a disability.
- Develop and provide staff training regarding education and vocational education and training services.
- Assist with the preparation of strategic advice, correspondence and reports on women's education and vocational education and training services and their delivery within the Agency.
- Research and analyse education and vocational education and training practices and methods.
- Provide timely advice to key stakeholders relating to new developments in the area of education and vocational education and training.
- Prepare significant reports and provide timely advice.
- Support contractors and staff in dealing with complex training situations or requirements and provide assistance to resolve service delivery issues.
- Collaborate with Offender Rehabilitation and Management Services business units and other QCS areas regarding appropriate delivery of the various education and vocational education and training service components and courses.
- Develop and maintain collaborative internal and external relationships.
- Provide information to support collaborative relationships with Offender Rehabilitation and Management Services, other sections of the Agency, contracted service providers and the community sector.
- Maintain knowledge of work activities, practice issues, research and evidence related to the operational delivery of education and vocational education and training.
- Establish networks with universities that deliver undergraduate and graduate studies to improve prisoner access to external study opportunities.
- Review the status of training packages and advise the Manager of Education of packages endorsed for delivery in contract periods.
- Provide advice and support to the Manager and Director in relation to state-wide adult education, vocational education and training courses linked with prison industries.
- Identify national and state skill shortages and implement training that can be delivered to prisoners.
- Provide training and support in the recording of courses on the Integrated Offender Management System and on the selection of units of competencies from training packages so that prisoners can achieve complete certificates.
- Provide regular reports on the progress of education and vocational education and training to the Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
