Are you passionate about conserving Queensland's unique wildlife and natural environment? Join the Strategic Wildlife Operations team at the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation as a Senior Policy Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the conservation of Queensland's iconic species, including crocodiles and flying-foxes, while addressing the challenges of humanwildlife interactions.
In this role, you'll play a key part in developing and implementing innovative policies, strategies, and regulatory solutions to support the conservation of nature outside of protected areas. You'll contribute to the development and evaluation of statutory instruments, guidance materials, and wildlife management frameworks under the Nature Conservation Act 1992. Your work will involve analysing complex data,
preparing detailed reports, and providing evidence-based recommendations to improve conservation outcomes. Collaboration is at the heart of this role and you will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will also have the opportunity to engage with the public and respond to enquiries, helping to build awareness and understanding of wildlife management policies.
We're looking for a motivated and skilled professional with a strong background in policy development, research, and analysis. You'll need excellent communication skills to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences and a proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a team. Knowledge of contemporary approaches to conservation in Queensland, Australia, or internationally is essential, or you must demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
