Join DLGWV as a Water Officer (PO2) in South Region Compliance. You’ll deliver regulatory and compliance functions under the Water Act 2000, Water Regulation 2016 and Planning Act 2016, including audits, investigations, and stakeholder engagement. The Role
Operating from within Water Resource Management—South Region, you will be part of a collaborative compliance team delivering functions that ensure sustainable management and use of the region's water resources, consistent with departmental frameworks, policies and priorities, in partnership with stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities
• Undertake regulatory activities associated with water compliance and riverine protection, including audits and investigations under the Water Act 2000, Water Regulation 2016 and relevant parts of the Planning Act 2016.
• Enter and validate information in CIRaM and other water databases; produce accurate reports and recommendations.
• Prioritise and coordinate workflows to meet performance targets, and contribute to team and regional reporting.
• Investigate potential non-compliance related to water entitlements and associated resources (surface and groundwater, overland flow, quarry material, riverine protection, associated works).
• Consult, liaise and provide advice to staff, management, clients, the public and agencies on water compliance matters; represent the department in community forums.
• Work with the Manager, Compliance and colleagues to deliver outcomes for the regulated water community; other duties as required.

About You
• Tertiary qualification (mandatory) in hydrology, groundwater modelling, geology, engineering, geoscience, science or applied science. Degrees in agricultural/environmental science, biology or natural resource management are well regarded.
• Eligibility to hold Authorised Officer status under the Water Act 2000 (or ability to meet requirements).
• Communication, relationship building and situational awareness skills; adaptable and solutions-focused.
• Willingness to travel periodically (including outside normal hours/overnight).
