The Role
Operating from within South Region Water Management and Use, you will lead and manage the Projects, Metering and Unallocated Water Releases team to ensure effective delivery of metering implementation by non-urban water entitlement holders, unallocated water releases, and engagement with major project proponents. The team is located across Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Nambour and Brisbane offices.

Key Accountabilities
-Lead a team to deliver high-quality, outcomes-focused client services aligned with departmental priorities, including implementing the non-urban water metering policy and standards.
-Resolve highly complex and high-risk state water dealings with cross-regulatory implications.
-Represent and advocate the department's position at interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings.
-Provide operational and strategic advice, including reports, briefing notes and submissions.
-Conduct negotiations with major clients and stakeholders.
-Exercise delegated authority under legislation, applying sound decision-making principles.
-Develop major client and stakeholder relationships.
-Manage budgets, business plans and workforce capability plans.
-Exercise judgment and authority in managing projects in an environment of competing priorities and constant change.

About You
There are no mandatory qualifications for this role; however, experience in project management and similar programs, as well as an understanding of the Water Act 2000 and subordinate legislation, will be highly regarded. You will bring:
-Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
-Project management experience.
-Ability to write and interpret policy.
-Knowledge of water management in a whole-of-business context.
-Current “C Class” driver's licence.
-High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
