This position will oversee the assessment and review of operational required for Protected Area management in Western Queensland. In addition, the focus is to develop a Strategic Asset Infrastructure Plan for the new and existing ranger bases, form strong partnerships with stakeholders and set a strategic direction for future management.
Drive innovation and turn strategic vision into reality. Further your leaderships skills and work in partnership with Traditional Owners looking after Country. Increase your knowledge in the management of QPWS&P estates.

Live and work on one of Queensland's newest western parks!
Based in Longreach, the Principal Ranger will lead and coordinate the development and delivery of strategic and operational programs consistent with the Regional Business Plan, departmental direction, government priorities and legislative obligations.
Focus of the position is to oversee the assessment and review of the operational requirements for Protected Area management in Western Queensland.
This position provides high level support to the Regional Director and will manage stakeholder relationships to facilitate collaborative responses for local and emergent issues.
The Principal Ranger will work across a large geographical area ensuring optimum use of resources and overseas administrative processes. Travel will be required from time to time.
Human resources management experience, excellent communication and administration skills are essential for this position.
Properties within the management unit are remote and may become isolated from time to time. Confidence and practical skills are required to work and live in regional and isolated settings.
There are no mandatory qualifications required, however formal qualifications in Conservation and Land Management would be highly regarded.
A reasonable degree of physical fitness is required for this role.
Accommodation in Longreach may be negotiated.
