Local Government Division plays an important role in ensuring accountable, well managed, community-focused local governments so that the Queensland Government's priorities are delivered locally and regionally.

This is your opportunity to lead and manage a network of regional offices in the delivery of departmental local government services, programs and priority projects of the Southern region which encompasses 40 councils.

The Role
Local Government Division helps ensure accountable, well-managed, community focused local governments so Queensland Government priorities are delivered locally and regionally. As Regional Director - Southern Region (Strategy and Service Delivery), you will lead and manage a network of regional offices delivering departmental services, programs and priority projects across the Southern region (40 councils). You'll work closely with councils, stakeholders and senior leaders to deliver practical solutions and strong outcomes for communities.

Key Accountabilities:
• Lead the strategic planning and delivery of local government programs across the Southern region, driving continuous improvement.
• Provide authoritative regional advice and intelligence to senior executives and support timely, high-quality deliverables.
• Represent the Minister, Director-General and senior executives on departmental business as required.
• Build and sustain strong partnerships with councils and stakeholders to strengthen governance, build capability and broker solutions on local government matters.
• Support successful, on-time delivery of local government funding programs and lead major projects as required.
• Coordinate regional responses to correspondence, briefs, submissions and ministerial requests, including briefings and recommendations.
• Promote a consistent, integrated approach to service delivery across regional offices aligned to policies and legislative requirements.

About You:
• Proven leadership experience, including leading teams across multiple locations.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
• Experience working with or within the local government sector is highly regarded.

Role requirements: No mandatory qualifications apply. Travel within the Southern region is required and may include travel outside normal hours and overnight stays.

The Benefits:
• Permanent, flexible full-time
• $166,623 to $174,339 per annum
• Leave loading and up to 12.75% employer superannuation contributions
