QGAir is seeking an energetic and motivated Head of Flying Operations to join our leadership team. This role oversees the management and administration of Fixed Wing Operations ensuring regulatory compliance with a focus on improving flight standards and service delivery. You will play a vital role in shaping our safety culture by leading through example and drive organisational change through innovation to reduce risk and maximise operational capability. You will also provide expert aviation advise, prepare operational briefings and represent QGAir in forums.

The Role:

This role oversees the management and administration of Fixed Wing Operations ensuring regulatory compliance with a focus on improving flight standards and service delivery. You will also provide expert aviation advice, prepare operational briefings and represent QGAir in forums.

What We're Looking For:

Mandatory requirements:

  • Hold a current Australian Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL)
  • Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) - Multi Engine
  • Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating - 4 Renewals
  • Minimum 5000 hours total time
  • Minimum 4000 hours Pilot in Command (PIC)
  • Minimum 100 hours Night PIC
  • Minimum 1000 hours Multi-Engine PIC
  • Minimum 1000 hours Turbine PIC
  • Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical
  • Hold a current Australian Passport

Highly desirable requirements:

  • Hold a current Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)
  • Flight Examiner Rating (FER) Instrument Rating (IR) Endorsement
  • Experience conducting night training operations
  • B360 Type Rating
  • C208 (or similar) Experience

Special Conditions:

  • Prior to appointment the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.
  • In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undertake touring duties at any base operated by the Aviation Capability Group.
  • The successful applicant must be available for rostered duty within one hour of notification of required flight.
  • The successful applicant must comply with the organisations Drug and Alcohol Management Plan.

Following appointment to the role, ongoing employment will be subject to the successful candidate securing and maintaining formal approval from CASA to hold the position of Fixed Wing Head of Flying Operations for the organisations AOC.
