Lead the future of data and information at DLGWV as our Director, Information & Data. Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, you’ll drive a data driven culture, deliver the Data Strategy and Information Management Strategy, champion governance, and shape next generation records and document management systems. You’ll also guide ethical, responsible use of AI and emerging technologies, represent DLGWV at whole of government forums, and lead a high performing team to unlock innovation and value from our information assets. The Role

The Director of Information and Data is a strategic leadership role reporting to the Chief Digital Officer (CDO). You will lead initiatives that embed a data driven culture, ensuring data and information assets deliver strategic outcomes and innovation. The role oversees the Data Strategy and Information Management Strategy, aligns them with the digital agenda, and champions governance across DLGWV. You will also shape the future of records and document management systems and ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements

Key Accountabilities

Provide strategic leadership and advice on data and information policy and emerging opportunities.

Represent DLGWV in Queensland Government forums and cross jurisdictional initiatives.

Develop and oversee governance frameworks ensuring compliance with legislation and standards.

Lead implementation of the Data Strategy and Information Management Strategy.

Oversee design of processes for metadata, data lineage, cataloguing, classification, and lifecycle management.

Drive innovation in data discovery, open data, and ethical use of AI and emerging technologies.

Lead development of a modern Records and Document Management System.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders across government and industry.

Lead and develop the Information & Data team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

About You

Strategic thinker with expertise in data and information governance and/or records management. Highly regarded: qualifications or experience applying frameworks such as DMBOK.

Ability to lead change, inspire others, and build enduring relationships—aligned with Leadership Competencies for Queensland.

Comfortable with occasional responsiveness outside normal hours and regional travel.
