Your contribution:
• Contribute to innovative agreement making strategies that are led by First Nations perspectives and incorporate people, community, country and costewardship principles.
• Provide high level support and manage coordination and implementation of projects associated with better practice approaches to developing and delivering systems, policies and programs which enhance and improve connection with First Nations people.
• Develop and contribute to the preparation and/or coordination of briefing notes, project plans, submissions, reports, communication and correspondence.
• Undertake research, evaluation and analysis, and develop recommendations to improve programs and their efficiency and effectiveness.
• Establish and maintain collaborative and effective relationships with First Nations people, officers across DESI and other government departments, special interest groups and industry to achieve strategic outcomes and successfully deliver projects.

About you
• Knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of policy, legislation and frameworks as they relate to the rights and aspirations of First Nations people and the protected area estate.
• Support the coordination and delivery of Indigenous Land Use Agreements and Cooperative Management Agreements that strengthen partnerships and embed best practice engagement with First Nations people.
• Analytical, research and problem-solving skills to support the contribution to strategic and operational advice and policy including the ability to review and synthesise information from multiple sources, draw accurate conclusions and provide authoritative advice to decision-makers.
• Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills particularly with respect to the preparation of accurate and concise, reports, technical and policy documents, policy submissions, and briefing papers.
• High level interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to establish and maintain productive and effective relationships with a wide range of other key stakeholders, in particular First Nations people.
