The Principal Consultant partners with business units and HR practitioners to provide professional HR guidance and deliver HR and establishment management services that link people, process and systems across the agency. The Principal Consultant leads a small team with responsibility for the coordination, oversight and professional development of team members.

The primary accountabilities of the Principal Consultant include:

  • Provide high level consultancy and HR advice to management on the implementation of contemporary HR operations and practices.
  • Provide HR advice and high level support to executive and senior management on HR guidelines, policies and frameworks.
  • Enhance and embed HR practice and capability at management levels.
  • Develop and support the overall establishment management systems and practices across the agency.
  • Lead and coordinate the development, implementation and continual review of establishment management practices and HR services across the agency.
  • Monitor the agency's internal and external environment to identify workforce needs and inform the design and development of key HR services that deliver benefits and meet identified needs.
  • Analyse trends and metrics to identify and develop holistic solutions and influence policies for HR and people matters.
  • Solve complex problems, analyse issues from various perspectives and exercise sound, independent judgement.
  • Lead a high performing team and foster a culture of collaboration, evidence based decision making, innovation and service delivery.
