The purpose of the Principal Engineer (Estimating) is to lead and manage the project cost estimating aspects of the department's Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP). You will provide high level strategic advice on technical requirements, tools, processes, policies, business rules and governance to support the department's project cost estimating and risk evaluation functions.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• A four-year Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree - or equivalent which is assessed and accepted by Engineers Australia
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) (in the applicable area of engineering).
Requirements of the role
• Effective management, administration and operation of the project estimative tools (SmartCost, Expert Estimation and @risk).
• Uses data analysis, experience and judgement to make insightful decisions.
Accepts decision making responsibility and demonstrates judgement about when to escalate issues
• Demonstrates sound governance by consistently operating to key standards.
• Familiarity with 3PCM is highly desirable.
• Data analysis experience in relation to Estimating data on complex infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
